OUTSTANDING SHOW ANIMALS
We wish we could bring every one of our alpacas to the show ring, but with hundreds of new crias (babies) born each year it is just not possible.
Instead, each year we choose a select group of show string quality juveniles to represent our ranch at alpaca show competitions throughout the country.
-
Most of these show string animals are for sale.
-
We do not take all of our show string animals to every show.
-
Groups of roughly 5-10 animals represent us at each venue.
-
New animals may be added throughout the show season.
-
Some animals remain on our show string for 2 or more years.
-
Our Winner's Circle lists are a compilation of our alpaca show string results for each year.

WINNER'S CIRCLE
Our Winner's Circle is a compilation of our alpaca show results for each year.
WINNING ATTRIBUTES
Bite - Alpacas do not have top teeth, only a hard upper palate. Ideally, the bottom teeth should meet the upper palate evenly.
Crimp - Crimp refers to the waves or zigzags. (It gives alpaca fiber greater elasticity which helps the knitted garment spring back into shape after wearing)
Density - Density is defined as the number of follicles per unit area of skin. (Density is a highly desirable trait not only because dense animals produce heavier fleeces, but their fiber will most likely be finer as well.)
Fineness - Fineness is measured in Microns and finer fiber has a smaller micron count. (The finer the fleece, the softer the feel.)
Conformation - Conformation is the term used to describe the correctness in the body of the alpaca. Alpacas should have straight legs when viewed from the front and they should not be too close together.
Hand - Hand (or Handle) is the subjective feel of a fleece.
Uniformity - Uniformity in micron, staple length and color.
SHOW AWARD PLACEMENTS
Ribbons - Alpacas are divided into different show classes by their colors, gender and age group. The animals then receive ribbons placements of first through sixth place in their individual halter classes.
Color Championship - The first and second place alpaca from each age/color group will progress to the Color Championship final. The top ranking alpaca is awarded a Color Champion banner. The second place alpaca in this group, receives the Reserve Champion banner.
Special Awards
Get of Sire - The Get of Sire class is comprised of three alpacas that are the progeny of the same sire. All three of these progeny are evaluated simultaneously in the ring and should represent their sire's ability to transmit his positive traits to each progeny in a uniform and consistent manner.
Produce of Dam - The Produce of Dam class is comprised of two alpacas that are the progeny of the same dam. Both of these progeny are evaluated simultaneously in the ring and should represent their dam's ability to transmit her positive traits to each progeny in a uniform and consistent manner.
Breeder's Best Three - The Breeder's Best Three class is comprised of three alpacas that represent the highest quality production from the breeder's herd. All three of the alpacas are evaluated simultaneously in the ring and a collective judgment is made on the group, which is based upon the individual excellence of each alpaca within the group.
Bred and Owned Production classes - These classes emphasize production from an ongoing breeding program rather than alpacas that are purchased from another breeder. The alpacas shown must be owned by the exhibitor and must be from dams that were owned by the exhibitor at the time the dams were bred.
Best Bred and Owned - Winners of each Bred and Owned class compete for the Best Bred and Owned Male and Female (one winner in each gender).
Judge's Choice - Judge's Choice winners represent excellence as the summation of positive characteristics for the most outstanding of all judging criteria. The winners of the Best Bred and Owned Male and Female are eligible to compete in the Judge's Choice competition. Color Champion candidates for each color group are also eligible.
